Gundaroo is nestled in the Yass Valley – surrounded by beautiful rural landscapes.
It is a quiet, peaceful and picturesque place – so it is very popular with travellers and Canberrans to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Our family built The Nest at Gundaroo six years ago. As locals we were keen to support local businesses and provide a great service to the region.
A lot of thought and consultation went into the design and build of our facilities. We wanted large villas with lots of space and light, but we also wanted each to be cosy and private. It was also important to us that our buildings to fit in with the heritage requirements of Cork Street and to be surrounded by gardens. We were so proud when we opened at the end of 2014 with a ribbon cutting by the Mayor, and with the support of the whole Gundaroo village.
Each of the villas at The Nest has a luxurious feel, with high-quality country furnishings and king beds that provide a restful sleep.
The Nest at Gundaroo is not a hotel – it is boutique luxury short-stay accommodation.
We included wood-fired heaters in every villa – as these provide a romantic ambience and keep guests cosy and warm.
All the firewood comes from our local property and is harvested from young-growth forests, with no impact on local wildlife and part of a broader forest management plan.
Each villa is self-contained with a full size fridge, a stovetop, microwave, and kitchenware.
We provide a complementary cook-your-own eggs and bacon and cereal breakfast.
After just a few months of operation we added the heritage-listed Clemenger’s Cottage to The Nest offerings. Unlike our new builds – Clemenger’s Cottage was built in 1892 and was the original Gundaroo Post Master’s home (William Clemenger).
With a very different historic and quaint feel, this cottage has been very popular with families.
The last six years have been an absolute pleasure, to host and serve thousands of guests at The Nest at Gundaroo. We don’t always get it right – and just like any small business, sometimes there are errors or stuff-ups, but our 5 star reviews and awards show we can’t be getting too much wrong. We love getting feedback from our guests and seeing many of them return over and over brings great joy.
Come and visit us at The Nest and see if the roost suits you too!
