St Joseph’s Catholic Church was opened in November 1881. The site for the church was selected as being the most convenient central place for the Irish concentrations at Tallagandra and along the Yass River. Services have been provided on a regular basis since that time.

The Church underwent major renovations in 1992 when the floor was replaced, the whole structure was rewired and the church refurbished with a new altar, baptismal font, lectern and Stations of the Cross.

The Church Hall was built in 2006 and provides a major support to the church community for social activity and a resource for the local community as an alternative function and meeting centre.

In 2020, the internal structure was repaired, the interior repainted and some minor electrical work completed. This update has made the church an even more pleasant place to attend.
